Well, Spring has arrived. I am staring out the window at the gloomy gray sky, wondering where the time between January and April has gone. I would like to mention at this point that when the blogs drop off in frequency, that means the bank account is a little happier since I am often bogged down with strange deadlines.
This past week has been no different. I tend to work on projects for a number of clients and have deadlines coming at me from many angles. While I enjoy the work, after eight hours a day of writing about toilets, fish recipes, modeling websites and basketball (not all at the same time and not all in that order) I find it difficult to sit at my keyboard and work on a blog entry. Especially not at 12:30 in the morning as I am logging off and heading for bed.
My brother in-law once said that you shouldn't do what you love for a living because after awhile, it begins to feel like a job. He was referring to being a professional chef, but it applies here equally well. While I love what I do (or, at least, my Blackberry wallpaper tells me I do) I find that it tends to suck the creativity from my brain like nothing else.
There have been a few changes in my life. I recently succumbed to the lure of flashy new tech and upgraded to a BlackBerry Curve. While I feel distinctly nerdy, it is much easier to type on the darn thing. And, to go along with that, I upgraded to a data package. This means that I can now surf from my BB... but that is neither here nor there. It just means that I have fallen even deeper under the sway of technology's siren song. I may now, in actuality, be a mid-tech girl in a high tech world. The jury is still out on that one, I think.
I have also tentatively branched out into corporate work which is fantastic. That is still a VERY small part of my overall business, but it is coming. In time, that will change and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Hopefully it is not a mirror that reflected the light from behind me. I'll let you know when I get there.
